The Digitally Excluded Patient

  • Paul Grant

摘要

In the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, the integration of digital technologies has become increasingly pervasive. Electronic health records, telemedicine, mobile health apps, and wearable devices have transformed the way healthcare is delivered and accessed. However, amid this digital revolution, a significant portion of the patient population remains digitally excluded. This chapter explores the multifaceted phenomenon of the digitally excluded patient, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities this presents in the context of modern healthcare. By delving into the factors that contribute to digital exclusion, we gain a deeper understanding of the barriers that impede patient access to digital health tools and information. As well as examining the impact on patient outcomes, healthcare disparities, and the patient-provider relationship, we should also highlight the ethical considerations surrounding digital healthcare, emphasising the importance of equity and inclusivity in the digital age.
