Denuding Epikarst on Dolomite (Environs of Veszprém, the Bakony Region)

This chapter deals with the rubble formation and feature development of one of the dolomite surfaces of the Bakony Region. For this, the fracture density of dolomite, the characteristics of fractures, the calcareous content and textural characteristics of dolomite samples, the mines of the area, the structure of rubble beds, the angular distribution of the features of dolomite and the altitude differences of Stream Séd, the karstwater level and rubble occurrences (mine margins) relative to each other were studied. During rubble formation no epikarst develops or it becomes destroyed. Thus, a specific landscape (mostly mounds) is formed on rubble terrains. Rubble formation is a phenomenon that can be associated with the dissolution of calcareous content and Ca ions which is in close relationship with fracture density of the rock and karstwater flow. In the case of rubble formation of dissolution origin, subsoil dissolution is distinguished when thin rubble which becomes coarser and coarser downwards and smaller features are formed. Dissolution of karstwater origin is also differentiated which results in the development of thick rubble that becomes finer and finer downwards and larger features. The two dissolution types may exert their effect separately, but at the same place simultaneously, too.
