Karstification of Plate-Shaped Dolines (Răchite, Padis, Romania)

The karstification of a plate-shaped doline (uvala) that of Răchite (Romania) is described. For this, resistivity values below the caprock that is thickening out and caprock thinning out, the morphology and elevation conditions of the bedrock and the structure of superficial deposit were investigated. The high resistivity values of the studied area refer to thick epikarst and a piezometric surface of low position. In the area the bedrock is plain, but it is dissected by large depressions. It can be established that below subsidence dolines where there is a depression on the bedrock and the lower cover bed is thickening out, the resistivity is higher than the average resistivity of the bearing profiles and profile sections. Below subsidence dolines where no depressions are present on the bedrock and the lower cover bed is thinning out, it is of lower value. At subsidence dolines which are situated above the bedrock depression, the lower cover bed is thickening out, no suffosion took place into the bedrock, the shafts are not filled with superficial deposit. Subsidence dolines, at which the lower caprock thinned out are suffosion subsidence dolines thus, there the shafts of the bedrock became filled with superficial deposit. The plain bedrock, the Râchite part marked P1 which is of great extension and its coalescence with the dolines at its margin refer to horizontal bedrock denudation, while suffosion sites and bedrock depressions indicate the fact that the bedrock became dissected. The bedding and structure of cover beds and the accumulation of superficial deposits refer to the simultaneous evolution and development of bedrock depressions and subsidence dolines.
