The Cosmic Forge

In his workshop in the innermost recesses of Etna, the god Vulcan threw stones full of iron, silver, and gold onto the fire. Under the powerful blows of his hammer, these metals were then transformed into wonderful objects, like the thrones of the gods and Jupiter’s arrows. Angered by the repeated infidelities of his beautiful wife Venus, the lame Vulcan beat the metals with such violence that his blows still resonate in Etna’s eruptions.
