The Complexity of the Multiverse

In Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, Alice discovers new worlds where the natural order of things is radically changed. By biting into one side of the mushroom on which the Hookah-Smoking Caterpillar sits, Alice can become tiny, while a bite on the opposite side transforms her into a giant. In the March Hare’s house, time flows differently, while the Mad Hatter’s clock has stopped at six o’clock, so that it's always time for tea. Playing cards and chess pieces come to life. The Red Queen runs as fast as she can, yet always remains in the same spot. The fat twins Tweedledum and Tweedledee try to convince Alice that she is only an imaginary figure in a simulated reality that lives in the dreams of the Red King, asleep at the edge of the chessboard.
