摘要

Recent advancements in nanotechnology have opened new frontiers in agriculture. Among various nanoparticles, silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) offer significant advantages due to their unique physiological characteristics and structural properties. SiNPs provide a cost-effective and highly efficient method for protecting plants against a range of biotic and abiotic stresses, including insect pests, pathogenic diseases, metal toxicity, drought, and salinity. Despite considerable progress in understanding the diverse functions and mechanisms of SiNPs in enhancing agricultural sustainability over the past decade, a comprehensive summary is still needed. This chapter discusses the characteristics, synthesis, and applications of SiNPs in promoting plant growth, development, and productivity.
