Electrical Power Generation, Conversion and Transmission Systems
摘要
The role of electrical power systems is becoming increasingly significant in the context of decarbonization. This implies that, in addition to renewable energy production sites, the expansion of transmission infrastructure is also necessary. To date, the impact of land use associated with these systems has been relatively insignificant compared to other human land uses. However, as decarbonization efforts continue to expand, larger areas of land will be required to produce and transport renewable electricity. The objective of this Chapter is to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the electrical power systems required in renewable energy systems. This includes generators, motors, frequency inverters, AC/DC and DC/AC converters, and control systems, as well as the interconnected networks needed to integrate all these components and resources as a functioning entity. Frequently, the most optimal generation sites are situated at a considerable distance from where consumers are located, necessitating the implementation of efficient transmission systems. Offshore wind power is a notable example of this. To mitigate the environmental impact of power transmission lines, it is essential to foster collaboration between project developers and grid operators to construct an optimal power transmission system.
