摘要

This chapter starts by tracing the history of the Just Transition paradigm from within the trade union movement of the 1980s and 1990s. Essentially, it requires transitions to be equitable for workers, that is the cost of retraining and reemploying workers and supporting their families should be borne by the whole of society. The chapter looks at contemporary Just Transition principles promoted by trade unions and some of the challenges and opportunities facing workers transitioning out of the high-carbon economy and into green jobs.
