Reciprocal Learning: Looking Backward, Moving Forward

Reciprocal learning results from collaborative partnerships and relationships and is instantiated in the doing. Doing is the cornerstone of experience—and reciprocal learning experiences tie the chapters in this book together. Doing is foundational to what becomes known over the continuum about beliefs, change, lifelong learning, professional development, personal growth, and reflective capabilities in cross-cultural settings. Doing captures the degree to which shared curriculum-making happens in the in-between space among participating collaborative partners. Doing creates the “we-ness” of the RLP. Richer and more productive insights are found through working together than what could be discovered and contributed on one’s own. Doing sits at the heart of reciprocal learning as it moves toward the future.
