Private Equity and Healthcare: The Cost of Placing Profits Over Patient Safety

  • Stephen Blecha,
  • Gil Ross

摘要

The role of private equity in healthcare is rising. This chapter seeks to address recent research into the impacts of private equity on patient care and the potential medical-legal consequences of private equity acquisitions. The increase in private equity backed healthcare raises concerns of institutional negligence, unnecessary treatment to meet financial goals, and consolidation of providers which potentially compromises competition.
