摘要

This research paper explores the complexities surrounding the integration of Muslims in Europe, focusing on the implementation of Muslim Personal Law and its implications for women’s empowerment. It addresses the ongoing debate surrounding the compatibility of Islam with European values and human rights, particularly in relation to controversial topics such as polygamy and the “burqa ban.” The paper examines the contradictory approaches of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights towards Islamic law. Authors shed a light on the pressing issue of Islamophobia in Europe and its profound ramifications on the process of Muslim integration. They challenges the conventional notion of “European values” and emphasizing the need for cultural sensitivity and inclusivity in defining and promoting these values.
