摘要

This chapter provides information about different types of nanocomposite and their development, mainly based upon the addition of starch. Justifications for using starch in manufacturing nanocomposite, characterization methods, and important biomedical applications have been provided. Due to their advanced properties, nanomaterials are an area of interest for promising biomedical technologies, including tissue regeneration, biosensors, scaffolding, and drug delivery. Several biological macromolecules, like carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, etc., have been employed for biomedical applications. Some methods have also been discussed here to improve the properties of pure starch by adding nanocomposites. We have also discussed briefly some essential biomedical applications of starch-based nanocomposite for drug delivery, wound dressing, and tissue engineering.
