The Texts and Their Translations

This chapter presents the texts and their translations and shows how they are distributed among the various editors. Of the 27 translations identified, 18 appeared during while Oldenburg was editor. A genre distribution of the translations shows that most were articles or extracts from letters. The distribution of the disciplines covered shows that astronomy was the most frequently translated subject. The distributions are compared with those found more generally in the Journal des Sçavans and the Philosophical Transactions.
