The Overall Picture

This chapter attempts to give a summary for the period as a whole. The translations have a smaller number of paragraphs and clauses than the source texts. The process profiles of both journals are similar, with material process being most frequent in both. The translations enhance the object of study as theme while downplaying themes relating to the author. Epistemic modality is more frequent in the translations than in the source texts. The distribution of processes encoded by nominalizations is similar in the two journals with material process accounting for about two-thirds in both. The differences reflect the differing philosophical stances of the two intellectual communities.
