Brain Real-Time Monitoring Techniques Used in Mongolian Gerbils

The basic principles and technology of NADH monitoring were discussed in detail in my book published in 2015 (Mayevsky A, Mitochondrial function in vivo evaluated by NADH fluorescence. Springer, Cham, 2015). However, this chapter presents specific details regarding monitoring of NADH and other functions in the Mongolian gerbil brain. In addition to monitoring of the mitochondrial NADH, this chapter will present the development of multiparametric monitoring systems that provide real-time information on the cerebral hemodynamic, ionic, and electrical activities during various perturbations. The various combinations of multiparametric assemblies will be discussed in detail.
