Provision of Services, Professional Roles, and Accreditation of School Psychologists Internationally
摘要
Highlighting that the contemporary status of the specialty of school psychology varies considerably around the world, this chapter offers an overview of the provision of school psychological services from a global perspective. This includes identifying the current status of the specialty, reviewing both internal and external factors that influence the emergence and development of school psychology, and then exploring the variation of school psychological services around the world. This chapter also offers a synopsis of the accreditation of school psychologists internationally, highlighting the graduate education (training) standards and goals of the International School Psychology Association (ISPA) and the accreditation processes for programs to obtain this accreditation. The final portion of the chapter describes some challenges that may hinder further development of school psychology internationally and suggests opportunities for individuals and professional associations to promote further development of school psychology around the world.
