Research and Publication in School and Educational Psychology: Editorial Perspectives from the International Journal of School & Educational Psychology

The landscape of research and publication in international school and educational psychology has changed significantly in recent years. Globalization and the growth of technology have brought both opportunities and challenges related to the way we access knowledge and how we conduct research and disseminate our findings. This chapter addresses several critical issues related to research and publication in international school and educational psychology, including concerns related to research and publication in Anglophone versus non-Anglophone countries, using a variety of research paradigms, cultural considerations in research, protecting the rights of human participants, research misconduct, writing and citation style, and quantifying the value of research. It examines the research and publication process from the perspectives of the 2012–2021 Editors-in-Chief and editorial teams of the International Journal of School & Educational Psychology (IJSEP), the refereed journal of the International School Psychology Association, and as such, does not necessarily represent the perspectives of the current editorial team. It addresses several areas of concern for the journal that may have implications for others involved in the production and dissemination of research and offers recommendations for researchers, scholars, and academics in school and educational psychology.
