Resilient Classrooms and Resilient Schools: An International Perspective
摘要
Resilient Classrooms applies key findings of developmental risk and resilience research to school and classroom environments by fostering high-quality relationships and opportunities for autonomy that can prompt students’ academic and personal successes despite the adversities that they may have experienced. The strategy’s defining elements include its emphasis on the promotion of students’ psychological well-being; conceptualization of resilience as a characteristic of the learning environment as well as of individual students; use of data-based needs assessment and progress monitoring; emphasis on classroom teachers as the intervention leaders; and emphasis on the engagement of classroom students at each stage of the intervention. This chapter considers how successfully Resilient Classrooms has been adapted to other nations and cultures.
