Mainstream Approaches to International Law

This chapter reflects upon mainstream approaches to legal research concentrating on the discipline of international law. It portrays the discipline’s main methodological assumptions and working style as well as their limitations, pointing at the need to revise and complement the traditional doctrinal approach with the other approaches presented in the book. The chapter also discusses the limitations of eclectic combinations.
