Intelligent Logistics Mobile Robot Automatic Navigation Key Technology and Its Application

With the rapid development of automation and intelligence, the world’s major industrial countries have begun to accelerate the strategic deployment of warehousing and logistics mobile robot technology. The logistics mobile robot can complete the loading, transportation, and unloading of the goods automatically as well as plan the optimal transfer path according to different types, quantities, and destinations of the goods, to ensure the goods are delivered to a destination fast and accurately. At the same time, the logistics mobile robot can be integrated with the warehouse management system, order management system, and other software to realize the real-time tracking and management of goods. This chapter mainly analyzes the research status and prospects of logistics mobile robots in China and abroad based on an existing logistics mobile robot that was developed independently as an example to expound a few technologies of the omnidirectional logistics mobile robot such as chassis design, Drive-by-wire chassis control, positioning navigation technology, pathway tracking technology, database information management technology and so on, to develop logistics mobile robot integrated control software which integrated with commercial digital electronic navigation maps. It can receive and process key data and instructions from mobile platforms then plan driving paths and display the current actual location in a complex and dynamic traffic environment automatically. It solves the problem of insufficient intelligence and flexibility of current logistics mobile robots, improves the precision of the path automatic tracking control, and realizes the logistics automatic distribution in large areas.
