Video Analytics: When and How Do Students Use Asynchronous Videos? Using the COVID-19 Experience to Reimagine Teaching
摘要
In response to the global pandemic, many educators built up a collection of diverse learning resources. In this chapter, we share the results of a study in which we examined when and how students viewed and used a repertoire of 160 asynchronous videos in a first-year quantitative course (approximately 900 students in four sections) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our analysis involved video analytics concerning total views, which videos received the most views and their patterns throughout the course, and the relationship between the course activities and the video views. These findings from our COVID-19 experience can be used to help instructors design courses that reorient the traditional class model towards a well-balanced combination of synchronous and asynchronous components.
