Real-Time Data Analysis with Smart Sensors
摘要
Wastewater treatment (WWT) involves a series of processes that eliminate pollutants from sewage through a series of physical, chemical, and biological treatments. Given the global need for clean water, traditional methods are increasingly insufficient. This chapter introduces the role of real-time data analysis through smart sensors in enhancing WWT. Smart sensors, integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), provide continuous monitoring and immediate data analysis, leading to significant improvements in the adaptability, efficiency, and effectiveness of treatment processes. We discuss the integration of AI technologies such as artificial neural networks and machine learning in optimizing these processes, underscored by real-world applications where AI-enabled smart sensors have made a transformative impact. Challenges such as data requirements, model interpretability, and the integration of AI with existing infrastructures are critically examined. Strategic recommendations are provided to overcome these barriers, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and the potential of AI in revolutionizing WWT practices. This chapter emphasizes the urgent need for innovation and collaboration across disciplines to harness AI's full potential, driving forward the development of smart, efficient, and sustainable WWT solutions that meet rising global demands and environmental standards. The transformative capabilities of AI, coupled with advances in sensor technology, promise to redefine traditional wastewater management systems, offering a future where clean water is more accessible and sustainable.
