Introduction

This chapter introduces key questions and themes explored across the 12 surveyed museums and the 35 interviews. It first provides an overview of the chapters within both parts of the book: Part I covers the content within each museum, especially as focused on human evolution and human biological variation; Part II contains the interview discussions with curators and other museum staff. Additionally, this chapter reviews the scholarly literature stimulating the author’s research project and intersecting with it.
