Long Follow-Up Results in Craniosynostoses
摘要
While craniosynostosis surgery is performed in early childhood, patients have to live with possible residual dysmorphia for the rest of their lives. Results of the surgery that influence the growth of the skull and face cannot be finally evaluated until the end of the growth. Thus, long-term follow-up of craniosynostosis treatment should be preferably evaluated after the patients have attained adulthood. In addition to traditional craniometric measurements and the managing physician’s opinions, it is important that the patient’s point of view, quality of life, and psychosocial impact of their residual dysmorphia are evaluated. In this chapter, the authors discuss these questions in detail.
