Unicoronal Suture Synostosis: Endoscopic Approach for the Neurosurgeons

Although unicoronal synostosis causes a number of complex cranial and facial deformities, the treatment using endoscopic techniques in the young infants is relatively simple and easy to perform. The primary goal is to release the affected orbitofrontal complex from the ipsilateral parietotemporal complex. As such, the affected side of the brain is allowed to move forwards and downwards, thereby leading to correction of the congenital deformation over the ensuing months and years. Techniques and nuances associated with this procedure are described in this chapter.
