Hemostasis and Transfusion in Craniosynostoses Surgery
摘要
Craniosynostosis correction is associated with a high risk of significant perioperative blood loss, which is responsible for the majority of complications. Several strategies to minimize blood loss are available and a variety of clinical protocols for the reduction of transfusion rates exist. Preoperative measures, surgical techniques, and anesthesia management protocols are presented. The usefulness of protocols with the aim to reduce blood loss and transfusion rates has been proven in several studies and the implementation of such a protocol in any institution treating children with craniosynostoses is strongly recommended.
