Bilambdoid and Sagittal Craniosynostosis (BLSS)

The premature fusion of the sagittal and both lambdoid sutures form the characteristic appearance of a Mercedes-Benz star. This syndrome often leads to reduced intracranial volume especially in the posterior vault, resulting in elevated ICP, tonsillar herniation, and hydrocephalus due to impaired cerebrospinal fluid circulation and possibly esthetic concerns. The article describes the syndrome, clinical appearance as well as management principles in cases of a Mercedes-Benz syndrome.
