Interaction Between ncRNAs and Their Response Network in Plants Under Multi-stress Environment

Evolutionary mechanisms have shaped plants that enable them to adapt to various environmental stresses. These stresses significantly impair the fundamental physiological activities of crop plants, resulting in reduced productivity and eventual death. Recent progress in high-throughput transcriptome sequencing and expression profiling has driven innovation in the discovery of non-protein-coding RNAs, particularly small and long non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). These molecules play a crucial role in transcriptionally regulating the growth, development, and defense mechanisms of plants in respond to environmental changes. This chapter will explore the recent advancements in unraveling the regulatory functions of ncRNAs, particularly emphasizing their increasing significance in shaping how plants respond to environmental stress.
