nc-RNA: A Key Player in Stress Response Pathways, a Molecular Perspective

Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) have become significant players in stress response pathways, offering a scientific viewpoint on the manner in which cells adjust to various stressors. These little RNA molecules control post-transcriptional gene expression, which affects a range of biological functions such as cell proliferation, and survival. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), counting long ncRNAs (lncRNAs) and small RNAs have been shown to target plant stress-responsive mRNAs, proteins, DNA regulatory regions, and regulatory genes in addition to protein-coding genes. These actions can control the transcription of different genes at the epigenetic, transcriptional and posttranscriptional levels. With an emphasis on the signal variables, expression characteristics, target functions, and interaction network between ncRNAs and their targets in stress responses, we provide an overview of the latest advancements in ncRNA research in plants in this chapter. There is also discussion of the intricate molecular regulatory networks between targets and ncRNAs in plants. We address the varied functions of ncRNAs in stress response pathways in this chapter, emphasizing their capacity to regulate gene expression in response to a range of stressors. In order to provide insight into the complex regulatory networks that control cellular adaptation to stress, we also investigate the ways in which ncRNAs interact with other cellular constituents to modulate stress responses. In summary, this chapter highlights the significance of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) as adaptable stress response regulators and offers insights into their possible therapeutic uses in the management of disorders associated with stress.
