Identifying Your Purpose

Identifying Your Purpose is composed of four subsections that illustrate the various “whys” directing and fueling coaches’ motivations to enter and persist in coaching. The first subsection, Faith Gives Us Purpose, surrounds the ways coaches find spiritual meaning in their work with young people. The second subsection, The Men Who Shape Us, explores how coaches’ relationships with male role models and father figures influence their desire to be that for their players. The third subsection, Momma’s and Grandmomma’s Boys, describes how mothers and grandmothers shape these men’s approach to coaching and the warmth and strength they bring to it. The fourth and final subsection, Being an Inspiration, encompasses coaches using their own trials and tribulations to inspire hope in their players who may struggle with similar circumstances.
