A New Beginning

The scientific evidence for global warming is immense. This chapter gives an overview of recent events that put the United States back front and center in reducing GHG emissions to combat global warming. President Biden’s ambitious climate agenda is laid out in the Inflation Reduction Act, which has spurred investment in renewable energy to help meet the 2030 and 2050 climate goals. Environmental degradation is linked to increased energy use and entropy increase in the Earth system. In order to combat global warming we must make decisions and take actions within a thermodynamic framework.
