Diversity and Urban Economic Growth
摘要
This chapter explores the relationship between population diversity and the growth dynamics of urban economies. Key relationships are examined including the development of a skilled, creative and innovative workforce; the generation of immigrant entrepreneurial business activity; and the existence of an urban experience attractive to mobile workers and visitors. These contextually embedded relationships are examined for the ‘superdiverse’ global city of London, to demonstrate how diversity plays a complex and significant role in developing the conditions and pathways for urban economic growth.
