Intercultural Competencies in Higher Education in Spain: Development, Assessment, and Recommendations
摘要
The development and assessment of intercultural competencies in higher education in Spain are particularly relevant due to the country’s increasing diversity and the need to effectively manage and capitalize on this diversity. In this context, intercultural competencies can play a critical role in promoting cultural understanding, respect, and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds, while at the same time preparing them for a globalized labor market and world. In this chapter, we aim to shed more light on the relationship between the internationalization of Spanish higher education and intercultural competencies, research advances concerning intercultural competence development and assessment in Spanish higher education, and the potential of intercultural competencies for promoting Spanish graduates’ employability and career development. Intercultural competencies are addressed from an educational perspective in higher education, aiming to advance the state of the art in the field.
