Embodiment Between Scientific Thought Experiments and Literary Fictions

The aim of this work is to reflect on the relationship between scientific thought experiments and literary fictions from the perspective of some recent studies on Embodied Cognition. Reassessing the role of emotions, and of the body, in storytelling, will allow us to examine the relationship between scientific thought experiments and literary fictions from a different point of view than the authors who will be considered. The possibility of an embodied narrative may constitute the common aspect between scientific thought experiments and literary fictions: the two concepts of embodied simulation and motor resonance will be useful in order to show this affinity. However, embodiment takes on a different role in science and the literary sphere.
