摘要

This study analyzes the security crisis in Ecuador during 2021–2022, focusing on crime data from each province. Using a dataset from the Ecuadorian Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos, crimes between January 2014 and May 2022 were examined using Clustering and Canonical Biplot techniques. Results reveal coastal provinces with high crime rates, particularly homicides, car theft, and motorcycle theft. The highlands generally exhibit moderate-low crime rates, except Pichincha province. Additionally, the eastern provinces have a notable rate of rape. This research categorizes provinces based on crime rates, aiding local officials in targeted interventions and understanding the country’s situation.
