摘要

A support network may have a major role in helping parents raise and care for their children, especially infants. However, agreeing to caring rules and practices can be challenging, particularly regarding digital media use. In this chapter, we discuss who composes the support network of new mothers and their co-parenting processes to understand their possible influences on infants’ and toddlers’ access to digital media. Through a qualitative analysis, it was identified that children’s grandparents were both the prime support network for mothers and the primary source of children’s screen exposure. A support network is usually considered a way to diminish digital media use, but it can constitute another source of screen access for infants and toddlers, even without family consensus.
