Within this book, we have outlined the exciting promise of extended reality (XR) solutions to support the needs of older adults, both with and without cognitive impairments. These solutions encompass both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, which hold the potential to help older adults stay connected with friends and family, engage in activities that support healthy lifestyles and wellness, transport themselves from one location to another safely and confidently, maintain cognitive fitness, overcome cognitive challenges, and engage in meaningful leisure opportunities. This chapter outline limitations of the current evidence and future challenges.
