摘要

Socioeconomic contexts (SES) of understanding gender are presented in this chapter. Demographic trends (e.g., wage gap; overrepresentation of women of color, single mothers, and TGNC people living in poverty) will be highlighted as well as sources of economic stressors. The unique gender impacts of SES on men, including the breadwinner or primary income earner, will be described, as well as the mental health consequences of being unable to fulfill this role. Unique poverty impacts for men also will be presented, as well as intersections of race and SES.
