Cultural and Ethnic Contexts of Gender
摘要
This chapter will focus on cultural, particularly ethnic, dimensions of understanding gender. Historically, gender has been understood within many societies as serving critical functions for dividing up work and family responsibilities. These roles also include socialization practices regarding how individuals understand themselves as gendered beings and mental health implications. Religious/spiritual socialization practices will be presented as essential for better understanding traditional gender roles as these have been practiced around the world across many generations.
