Participation of Children in Multifamily Groups

The presence of children in multifamily groups often generates controversy among professionals and also among families, who consider that they should not be exposed to certain narratives in the therapeutic space that they consider unsuitable for minors. In this chapter the authors dismantle this prejudice with arguments based on their clinical practice, concluding that the participation of children is essential for the detection, intervention and prevention of any type of child maltreatment and to generate therapeutic processes in the family. They point out the need to offer a parallel therapeutic space for parents where they can specifically address aspects related to their marital relationship.
