Aims of clinical exam: to identify disease, to plan surgery and to identify problems that may delay recovery. Surface Anatomy includes Bony landmarks: The first rib is not palpable. Second rib joins the manubrium just above the sternal angle. The first rib space is just above and lateral to the sternal angle. Costal margin is formed by the 7–10 ribs along with 11 and 12.
