The Latest Developments in China’s Metaverse

This chapter presents different understandings of the metaverse among major Chinese scholars, as well as the approval of the China National Committee for Terminology in Science and TechnologyChina national committee for terminology in science and technology(CNTERM) on the final definition of the metaverse. The chapter then provides the attitudes and policies of governments at different levels in China toward the metaverse in different periods. Subsequently, this chapter describes famous white papers and monographs concerning the metaverse in China. Finally, it introduces major academic institutions and commercial organizations related to the metaverse in China.
