Defining, Exploring, and Simulating the Digital Twin Metaverses

This chapter presents a brief introduction and history of simulation, Digital Twins and their types and replica twinsReplica twin, and the origin of “metaverse”. Underlying all these technologies is the premise that information generated by these technologies is a replacement for the wasted physical resources in human goal-oriented tasks. The chapter then provides the characteristics of a Digital Twin-oriented metaverse. It applies the characteristics to the different DT types.
