Teleassessment Methods in Geriatric Rehabilitation

Teleassessment occupies an essential place in health technology. Continuous monitoring is vital to maintain active and healthy aging, especially in aging societies. To do this cost-effectively and efficiently, tele-evaluation approaches should be used. In addition, older adults can have many health problems, and this is a frequent reason for hospital admission. Teleassessment reduces the burden on the health system and avoids many of the issues experienced by older adults, such as transportation difficulties. There are methods for self-assessment, such as sensor systems, smart homes, phone calls, teleconferences, and artificial intelligence systems. These methods need to be known by health professionals so they can put them into practice and explain them to patients and their relatives. This chapter presents teleassessment methods and provides a quick guide for health professionals.
