Mechanomyography as a Promising Tool for Managing Physical Activity and Preventing Injuries in the Field
摘要
Due to manpower shortage in the healthcare and medico-social sector, Hospitalité Saint Thomas de Villeneuve has observed that a large number of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) affects negatively the health of employees during their physical activity. Mostly linked to the handling of residents/patients and manipulation of material and equipment in hospital’s logistic department, an experiment has been set up to assess levels of physical activity of deltoid and lumbar muscles during logistics tasks with the use of mechanomyography (MMG). We will discuss how this specific measurement of muscle activity can prevent MSD hazards, reduce sport injuries and provide an interesting tool to discuss and conduct organizational changes within Hospitals.
