Clans vs. Clubs

  • Gianluigi Guido

摘要

A Godfather firm’s network can develop into a “clan”, serving a narrow minority, or into a “club”, benefiting a broader community. Both forms are acceptable as long as they do not degenerate. A Godfather firm can function as a “clan” by creating a close network of loyal customers who benefit from mutual favors. However, their attachment should not become a cult-like dependency, where members lose autonomy and are manipulated. Conversely, a Godfather firm’s network can function as a “club” when open to all and operating for the community’s benefit. This requires a cohesive community and a focus on meeting primary needs, without turning into an exclusive governing body. In both cases, proper internal and external controls are required to prevent misuse. Promoting ethical behavior and careful monitoring would allow Godfather Marketing to become a prevalent business model in the future, capable of encouraging personal and collective improvement.
