Land Use Planning and Development Control

  • Emmanuel Onyeabor

摘要

Land is scarce, limited in supply and relatively fixed in quantity, and in the face of unbridled population growth, rapid urbanisation and industrialisation, land is readily depleted. To permit anyone to do what he absolutely likes with his property…will be to make property generally valueless, thus, the need for land use control. This chapter discusses the concept of development, zoning and land use policies as well as various aspects of land use regulations and the mechanisms for development control. Jurisdiction covered in the discussions include the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
