Well-Being and Work–Life Balance of College Teachers in Tamilnadu
摘要
College teachers are forced by the current, highly competitive global marketplace to focus more on their work than any other aspect of their lives. The facets of life, such as a person’s personal life, job life, social life, and spiritual life, must be given attention and interest. However, it can be difficult at times. One facet receives adequate attention, while others receive insufficient attention. Individuals’ well-being suffers as a result. Hence, to live well, a person must maintain balance in all facets of life. Many people spend the majority of their lives at their places of employment. Many people overlook other elements of life while paying attention to their profession. People must be aware of this and make time for all elements of life that they consider to be really important. College teachers who work in organizational settings are more likely to care about this because they often spend more time at work and less time on other elements of their lives. They are dedicated to a wide range of obligations from many angles, such as obligations to society, college, and their families. Given the significance of a healthy work–life balance for college teachers and thus a healthy well-being, this study made an effort to investigate the causes of the imbalance, the effects of work on families, and the effects of families on work. The study also determined which one has a greater effect on keeping a healthy balance between work and life. A self-designed questionnaire that was developed after an extensive literature review was employed to carry out this investigation. The necessary data were gathered and computed from 250 samples (self-financing college teachers), and conclusions were reached using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. According to the results, family life has a greater influence on work–life balance. College teachers need to be aware of this and set priorities for their professional and personal lives to better all three and ultimately society.
