Development of an Artificial Neural Network Model for Performance Analysis, Modeling and Evaluation of Membranes in Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plants

Desalination is viewed as a solution to water shortage since it provides a drought-proof supply of water that is independent of climate change, river flows or reservoir levels. The membranes are the most important components in an RO-based desalination system, as the quality of water obtained from the RO plant is directly related to the performance of membranes. In many of the science fields, the contribution of AI has been widespread recently. There are various approaches presently available to analyze the water quality and membrane performance in RO processing. These approaches are currently using laboratory techniques for monitoring the water quality and membrane performance. In this paper, we have proposed a novel approach to developing an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model for performance analysis, modeling, and evaluation of membranes in reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plants.
