Identifying Human Factor Challenges in an Aircraft Component Maintenance Organization

The implementation of a safety management system in maintenance organizations, as outlined by EASA regulations, highlights the importance of considering human factors and managing the risks associated with them. As per EASA Part 145 regulations, aircraft component maintenance organizations must integrate human factor principles into their processes. To gain insights into human factor issues in the context of an aircraft maintenance organization, the researchers conducted a qualitative analysis of 118 nonconformances reported at an EASA- and GCAA-approved organization, using the PEAR model. The results of this study indicate that the majority of human factor issues stem from the individuals performing the task and the actions they take to complete it.
